The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), through its Field  Office III, continues to interview and assess the survivors of  the  explosion which occurred in Bocaue, Bulacan on October 12, to determine appropriate assistance essential for their recovery.

The explosion incurred two fatalities and injured 25 others. The injured victims were immediately taken to the nearest hospitals and to date, 16 have already been discharged. The rest are still recovering.

The bereaved families will be given burial assistance while those injured will receive medical aid through the DSWD Assistance for Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS).

Social workers are also ready to provide psychosocial counseling to the bereaved families and to the survivors to help them cope with the trauma brought by the incident.

DSWD Secretary Judy M. Taguiwalo expounded, “Kahit na devolved na sa mga lokal na pamahalaan ang mga pangunahing serbisyo para sa mga biktima ng kalamidad o sakuna, katulad ng nangyaring pagsabog sa Bocaue, nakahanda ang Departamento na kagyat na tugunan ang mga pangangailangan ng apektadong mamamayan (Even if frontline services for victims of calamities or accidents, such as the explosion that occurred in Bocaue, are already devolved to the LGUs, the Department is ready to provide immediate assistance to affected citizens). ” ###
