The Department of Social Welfare and Development, along with the Department of Education and Department of Health obtained high ratings again in the latest awareness and performance survey of government agencies conducted between October 22 to 30, 2009, according to Pulse Asia’s Ulat ng Bayan.
The survey showed a 100 percent national awareness rating for the DSWD in terms of its mandates and of what it does for the people. Likewise, the DSWD garnered an approval rating of sixty-five (65) percent and only a nine (9) percent disapproval rating. Since the last quarter of 2006, the DSWD has consistently been rated as the top performing agency of the national government. It also has the distinction of being the top-rated government agency in integrity development and anti-corruption by the Presidential Anti-Graft Commission since 2007.
Secretary Esperanza I. Cabral said that the favorable ratings are indeed an immense boost to the morale of DSWD personnel.
“We are assured that the public and the sectors which we serve continue to recognize and feel satisfied with the way we deliver services to them,” Secretary Cabral said.
The survey also indicated that Secretary Cabral obtained a 45 percent performance approval rating, a 6 percent increase from the 39 percent rating she garnered in August 2009.
Secretary Cabral garnered a 75 percent national awareness rating, also a 6 percent increase in her score compared to the August 2009 survey. Respondents from Luzon posted the highest awareness for Secretary Cabral with 82 percent, while respondents from Mindanao gave the highest approval rating of 51 percent on the performance of Secretary Cabral.
Secretary Cabral was also pleased to note that 51 percent of the respondents said that the most important service they have received from the government during the onslaught of recent typhoons is relief assistance. This demonstrates that relief goods distributed by the government indeed go to the rightful beneficiaries.
“I am happy that the DSWD continues its tradition of excellence. We will take this achievement as an encouragement to pursue reforms in the department and to strengthen as well as to improve the delivery of services to the least advantaged and the neediest sector,” Secretary Cabral stated. ### (DSWD – Social Marketing Service) November 23, 2009
