The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) commemorates its 60th founding anniversary with the theme, “DSWD @ 60: Committed Social Service with Integrity” through weeklong activities starting January 24 to 28, 2011. Secretary Corazon Juliano-Soliman will lead the series of activities to be held at the DSWD Central Office, Batasan Hills, Quezon City.
Day one will commence with the traditional flag raising ceremony to be followed by the opening of the sports festival for DSWD employees and the products sale and exhibit of beneficiaries of the Self-Employment Assistance – Kaunlaran (SEA-K) program. It will also be highlighted by the opening of the Heritage and Memorabilia Exhibit, which showcases the DSWD’s glorious past from 1950 to 2011. The Heritage and Memorabilia exhibit will capture the institutional memories through different memorabilia items such as IDs, uniforms, publications, and photos, among others.
The memorabilia items will be on display for one (1) year at the DSWD Central Office, new building lobby.
The succeeding days will be marked by activities, such as the launching of DSWD Coffee Table Book entitled “60 Years of Heart and Soul” which chronicles DSWD’s 60 years of steadfast service to the disadvantaged sectors and Grand Homecoming of former DSWD officials and staff on January 25; the PANATA Awards which recognizes the contribution of DSWD partners and stakeholders and the Program on Awards and Incentives for Service Excellence (PRAISE) for outstanding DSWD employees on January 26; and Loyalty Awards which recognizes officials and employees who have rendered 10 to 40 years of faithful service to the DSWD on January 27.
A DSWD’s Got Talent Competition and awarding of contest winners on January 28 will cap the weeklong celebration. (DSWD-Social Marketing Service) January 21, 2011
