The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) launches on January 25 its Knowledge Exchange Center (KEC) highlighting the Department’s lead role in social protection and its three core poverty reduction projects.
The launching of DSWD’s Knowledge Exchange Center is part of the activities highlighting the 61st month-long anniversary celebration of the Department.
The KEC is a result of DSWD’s pioneering efforts to institutionalize a knowledge management system which aims to strengthen and promote the exchange of knowledge with stakeholders, partners and within DSWD towards increased productivity and efficiency.
Set up through a grant from the World Bank, the KEC is an interactive repository of important knowledge in social protection including DSWD’s database. Its facilities include a conference room with multi-media equipment, home TV theater, computers and scanner for accessing information and knowledge, web portal and a physical library with an Online Public Access Catalog.
DSWD Secretary Corazon “Dinky” Soliman said, that “The strengthening of knowledge exchange in the Department is an important step towards increased efficiency and capacity to support the expansion of our poverty reduction projects.”
Joining Secretary Soliman at the launching are representatives from the World Bank, members of the academe, and other DSWD officials.
The KEC, which is located at the fourth floor of the DSWD Central Office in Batasan Pambansa Complex in Quezon City, is open to the public, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Mondays to Fridays. ### (DSWD-Social Marketing Service) January 23, 2012
