P16 M WORTH OF RELIEF ASSISTANCE SENT TO NEGROS QUAKE VICTIMS PDF Print E-mail

Approximately P16.4 million worth of relief assistance have been provided to victims of the 6.9 earthquake in Negros Oriental from the combined resources of DSWD with P16.3 million and concerned Local Government Units (LGUs) amounting to P77,822.

As of February 10, 3 p.m., 46 evacuation centers in the municipality of Tayasan, Bindoy, Jimalalud and city of Guihulngan are still open and temporarily sheltering 5,997 families

At the same time, 11,791 families who opted to stay with their friends and relatives are also being provided with relief assistance.

A total of 2,978 damaged houses was recorded, of which 1,411 houses were totally destroyed while 1,567 others were partially damaged.

The World Food Programme (WFP) transported two units of mobile storage tents and two  units of  generators to Cebu City  on February 9.

The DSWD in Cebu City continues to accept donations through its Donation Desks with hotline numbers 032-2321192 and 032- 2330261.

The supplies needed by the victims are food, water, mats, mosquito nets, blankets, tents, flashlights with batteries, and toiletries. (DSWD-Social Marketing Service) February 10, 2012
