The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) will welcome anew today, some 22 overseas Filipino (OFs) families who availed of the amnesty program of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The  OFs, comprising of 50 individuals, mostly children, will arrive in Manila  at 3:35pm via Cebu Pacific.

Similar to the previous batch of OFs who came home to the Philippines, DSWD will be waiting for their arrival to provide meals and to assist them in processing their travel documents.

The Department is also set to provide P5,000 in financial assistance to each of the families to augment their resources, especially in the purchase of basic goods for the children.

DSWD Secretary Judy M. Taguiwalo said, “DSWD will continue to welcome and assist the OFs, especially the women and children who may have experienced difficulty in going home from Riyadh.  As instructed by President Rodrigo Roa-Duterte, DSWD is just one of the agencies tasked to provide genuine malasakit (compassion) and care to the OFs as they return to our country.”

In partnership with DSWD, the Overseas Workers Welfare Agency (OWWA) also extends its services to all returning OFs. ###
