In an effort to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the delivery of assistance, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), through its Crisis Intervention Division (CID), conducted a Program Implementation Review (PIR) for the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) over an online platform on November 15 to 19.

In compliance with the DSWD Administrative Order No. 09, series of 2019 or the Amendment to Memorandum Circular No. 13, series of 2009, or the Guidelines for the Conduct of Integrated Performance Review and Evaluation Workshop (PREW), the activity aimed to evaluate the accomplishment of the programs, the effectivity of its implementation, and to determine the improvements that need to be made.

The AICS is one of the programs and services under the Protective Services Program of the DSWD, which provides financial and material assistance, psychosocial support, and referral services to indigents or in crisis individuals and their families, as assessed by the social workers.

When the COVID-19 pandemic hit the country, respective Crisis Intervention Units and Sections of all DSWD Field Offices were prompted to redesign some major processes in implementing the AICS program in pursuit of catering more clients amidst the community quarantine and other restrictions that were imposed to mitigate the spread of the virus. With these changes, the CID targeted to assess whether the program objectives were achieved and to recognize the best practices of its field offices in the conduct of the PIR.

Through the regular PIR, the CID was able to identify, gather and disseminate information on good practices for institutionalization and replication of strategies among Field Offices on the implementation of the AICS program. ###
