DSWD chief meets transport groups, agency partners to thresh out issues re driver-benes’ list

Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Rex Gatchalian convened a coordination meeting on Thursday (April 23) with representatives from the Transport Network Companies (TNCs), the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), and the Private Express and Messengerial Delivery Service (PEMEDES) sector to address challenges in distributing the cash aid for the public utility vehicle (PUV) drivers..

Secretary Gatchalian clarified the DSWD merely facilitates the payout because the funds are lodged within the Department, emphasizing the fixing of the beneficiary list remains the responsibility of the TNCs, LTFRB, and the DICT, while also explaining the reasons for not utilizing e-wallets during the distribution.

The discussion tackled the determination of the list, encoding templates, and corrective measures to ensure that the next payouts of cash relief assistance (CRA) are smoothly implemented in accordance with the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. to assist the PUV drivers amid the energy emergency.

Also present during the meeting were Undersecretary for Operations Monina Josefina Romualdez, Disaster Response Management Group (DRMG) Asst. Secretary Irene Dumlao, Asst. The DSWD is the sole owner of the information collected on this site. The DSWD takes precautions to protect information. Upon submission of sensitive information via the website, information is protected both online and offline. Wherever the Department collects sensitive information (such as passport and Birth Certificates), that information is encrypted and transmitted to the DSWD in a secure manner. This may be verified by looking for a lock icon in the address bar and looking for "https" at the beginning of the address of the web page. Only employees who need the information to perform a specific job (for example, certificate printing or customer service) are granted access to personally identifiable information. The computers/servers, where personally identifiable information is stored, are kept in a secure environment.
