Remaining true to its mandate of helping Filipinos in crisis and those affected by disasters and other emergencies, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), through its Field Office VII, continues to assist the families and individuals affected by the shooting incident in Barangay, San Isidro, Pamplona, Negros Oriental on Saturday, March 4, 2023.

On March 8, the Field Office initially provided a total of Php 513,224.00 worth of cash and food assistance to the eight bereaved families and to the 21 victim-survivors who are now recuperating in various hospitals.

Aside from the initial cash and food aid, the Social Welfare and Development Team of the Field Office also conducted intake interviews and provided psychological first aid to all the bereaved families and victim-survivors. They expressed that the Department’s presence has somehow relieved them of the pain caused by the tragic incident.

Referrals were also forwarded to the MALASAKIT Center for hospital bill coverage for some individuals admitted to the Negros Oriental Provincial Hospital.

The Field Office remains in touch with the local government unit for any additional needs of the affected families and individuals.

It expressed its commitment to help the bereaved families and the survivors as they go through this difficult period in their lives. ###
