Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Rolando Joselito D. Bautista and Executive Secretary Salvador C. Medialdea recently led the blessing of the DSWD’s new ambulance units for the use of residents in its centers and residential care facilities (CRCF) nationwide.

The blessing of the units is one of the highlights of the Department’s 68th Founding Anniversary Celebration. Executive Secretary Medialdea was the guest of honor during the celebration.

The ambulance units are equipped with pre-hospital emergency machine to give immediate and temporary medical assistance to the Department’s clients which include children, women, and the elderly, among others. These will be used to bring the clients to hospitals, and other required destinations.

The procurement of the ambulance units is part of the DSWD’s CRCF Infrastructure Project, aimed to give better welfare services to marginalized and disadvantaged individuals, groups, and families. The project also includes the provision of machineries, equipment, and furniture required for the CRCF operation.

The project, with P2.3 billion fund allocation, covers the Department’s 71 centers and residential care facilities in 16 regions nationwide. It includes 211 infrastructure projects, 250 minor repairs, 876 machineries and equipment, 508 furniture and fixtures, and 70 ambulance units.

DSWD Central Office will start delivering the units to its different Field Offices this month until March 2019. ###
