The entire Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) is deeply saddened by the loss of one of the Agency’s inspiring servant leaders, Field Office (FO) VII Regional Director Rebecca Geamala.

DSWD Secretary Erwin T. Tulfo and officials and staff of the Department expressed their heartfelt condolences and offered their prayers and utmost support to the bereaved family as they go through this difficult time.

Director Geamala started as a Vocational Rehabilitation Worker at the Ministry of Social Services & Development – Region VI (former name of the DSWD) in March 1985. With her hard workand perseverance, she held different positions, from Social Worker to Director III, in FOs VI and VII. In March 2019, she was appointed as the Regional Director of FO VII.

As the Regional Director, she was described by her colleagues as a well-principled leader. She was a regional director with a heart who genuinely cared for the welfare of the people, the staff, and the agency as a whole.

She was also a member of the DSWD Management Committee who carried the duties and responsibilities of supporting the Department’s vision to free the Filipinos from hunger and poverty and provide equal access to opportunities, enabled by a fair, just, and peaceful society.

The DSWD is grateful for her more than 37 years of dedicated service to the poor, vulnerable, and disadvantaged Filipino people. ###
