As head of the Food and Non-Food Items Cluster of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council and as part of its resource augmentation role, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) is ready to provide relief augmentation support to all local government units (LGUs) that will be affected by Tropical Storm Auring.

The DSWD assured that disaster funds and relief supplies are enough to respond to the needs of affected LGUs. To date, the Department has more than P496 million standby funds, almost 300,000 family food packs,  other food items worth P194 million, and non-food items amounting to P409 million.

Disaster teams of DSWD-Field Offices along the track of ‘Auring’ are on alert status and are closely coordinating with concerned LGUs for any significant development that may require their assistance.

The Department also urged residents along the path of the storm to remain vigilant and to heed orders of their authorities for their own safety. ###
