DSWD provides cash relief assistance, conducts livelihood assessment for PBBM-pardoned Mary Jane Veloso, family
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) is extending continued social protection assistance to Mary Jane Veloso and her family following her release from the Women’s Correctional facility after receiving absolute pardon from President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. last September 25.
On Sunday (September 27), the DSWD’s Field Office (FO) 3 – Central Luzon visited Veloso and her family in Gen. Mamerto Natividad, Nueva Ecija, and provided her with Php30,000 in cash relief assistance along with her parents who each received Php10,000. An additional Php20,000 will also be provided, Php10,000 each, to her two sons on Monday (September 28).
Secretary Irene Dumlao, the DSWD spokesperson, said on Sunday.
During the visit, DSWD FO 3 personnel also assessed Veloso for assistance under the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP), which provides livelihood support to eligible individuals and families to establish or strengthen sources of income.
As part of the assessment, Veloso expressed her interest in putting up a sari-sari store at their home as a source of livelihood for her family.
Secretary Dumlao said.
The assistance forms part of the DSWD’s continuing efforts to provide appropriate social protection interventions to vulnerable families and individuals, including those who need government support in rebuilding their livelihoods and strengthening their capacity for self-sufficiency.
Secretary Dumlao said. (CC)
