The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Central Office expressed its gratitude to Globe Telecom for lending five WiFi routers that can be used by the Department for the remote processing of Step 1 of its Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program.

DSWD Information and Communication Technology Management Service Director Andrew Ambubuyog officially received the pocket wifi units that were turned over to the Department by Globe Account Manager for Government Account Carolina Dela Costa on Wednesday, March 15, at the QC-X Building of the Quezon Memorial Circle. The request of DSWD for routers was facilitated by Mr. Ronald David, Assistant Vice President-CIAS Program Delivery of Globe through Ms. Dela Costa.

Each unit has a two-month internet connection subscription and will be used at the Crisis Intervention Unit staging area in the said location. The DSWD said that the additional facility from Globe Telecom, which will provide high-speed internet, will enable the DSWD to process AICS applications in an efficient manner.

It can be recalled that the DSWD Central Office started to roll out, on March 13, a new mechanism for its AICS program wherein the pre-assessment of documentary requirements and issuance of appointment schedules will be facilitated in a temporary site such as the Quezon Memorial Circle.  More than 500 clients are being pre-assessed at the remote site daily.

The Department said that the continuous support of private companies, like Globe Telecom, will further capacitate the DSWD to efficiently respond to the needs of individuals in crisis situation. ###
