DSWD to set special cash relief payout for NCR PUV drivers next week

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) remains highly committed to providing cash relief assistance (CRA) to unserved transport workers across the National Capital Region (NCR) through a special payout next week.

Asst. Secretary Irene Dumlao, the DSWD spokesperson, told Radyo Pilipinas on Tuesday (April 7) that Tricycle Operators and Drivers Association (TODA) alongside Jeepney Operators and Drivers Association (JODA) members will receive their Php5,000 financial aid by next week.

The special payout next week will also include qualified Transportation Network Vehicle Services (TNVS) drivers, motorcycle (MC) taxi, and service delivery riders who were either not on the initial list or who failed to claim their cash aid on the supposed date of the payout.

The DSWD will announce four designated payout sites in Metro Manila once finalized to prevent beneficiaries from spending extra fuel money on distant payout venues.

“We have identified four payout sites— meron po sa South, sa North, sa Central NCR, para again, hindi naman mahirapan yung ating mga drivers na kumuha, gagastos pa ng karagdagang petrolyo para pumunta doon sa designated payout sites na malayo naman sa kanya,” Asst. Secretary Dumlao said in the Radyo Pilipinas interview.

“So, those payout sites will be announced or we will publish para maging reference po ng atin pong mga drivers,” Asst. Secretary Dumlao added.

The DSWD spokesperson highlighted ongoing verification processes involving the Transport Network Companies’ (TNCs) management to crosscheck their master lists and delete the duplicate entries among their riders.

“Kaya nagsasagawa tayo ng verification, and then itong proseso na ito ay ginagawa natin para walang duplicate entries and then nakipag ugnayan nga din tayo sa mga TNCs, patuloy po yung isinasagawa natin na mga pagpupulong po sa kanila para magkaroon tayo nga ng kumbaga, mag compare tayo ng mga listahan ng mga drivers para hindi po maulit yung mga pangalan ng mga drivers,” Asst. Secretary Dumlao pointed out.

Asst. Secretary Dumlao assured all PUV drivers and riders that funds allocated under the DSWD’s Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program remain sufficient to cover all target beneficiaries.

“Sasapat naman po yung 30 billion pesos na in-earmark satin para sa cash relief assistance at kahit dagdagan pa yan ano ng same amount para naman doon sa mga ibang drivers outside of Metro Manila, we have more than enough budget for this,” Asst. Secretary Dumlao said.

The special pay out will also cover unclaimed cash relief assistance from the previous schedules.

The DSWD spokesperson said the special payout is in line with the commitment of Secretary Rex Gatchalian that all qualified PUV drivers in NCR should receive the relief assistance in line with the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to ensure that no public transport driver will be left behind. (KI)
