The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) welcomed United Kingdom (UK) Ambassador to the Philippines Laure Beaufils at the National Resource Operations Center (NROC) on Friday, November 18, to inspect its Mechanized Production System (MechPS).

The UK, through the assistance of the United Nations-World Food Programme (WFP) is one of the donors of the MechPS which has been instrumental in the fast and efficient production of Family Food Packs (FFPs) that the Department utilizes as augmentation assistance to local government units (LGUs) during disasters or calamities.

A similar MechPS was also set up in Cebu City and reinstalled in Mandaue, Cebu which caters the Visayas Region and nearby areas in Mindanao.

During the visit, the UK Ambassador was joined by Undersecretary for Disaster Response Management Group Atty. Marco Bautista, Undersecretary for Social Welfare and Development Sally Navarro, Assistant Secretary for Luzon Affairs Marites Maristela, Assistant Secretary for Mindanao Affairs Arnel Garcia, and Assistant Secretary for Office of the Secretary Concerns Irene Dumlao. ###
