In celebration of World Day Against Child Labor (WDACL), the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and World Vision will forge a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the implementation of Project Against Child Exploitation or Project ACE on June 14. The event will be premiered on the social media accounts of both organizations.

The Project ACE aims to improve enforcement of the legal framework pertaining to worst forms of child labor (WFCL), including online sexual abuse and exploitation of children (OSAEC), and violations of acceptable conditions of work (ACW); improve assistance services for victims of WFCL, including OSEC, and violations of acceptable conditions of work; and, strengthen partnerships to accelerate progress in addressing WFCL, including OSAEC, and violations of ACW.

The MOA highlights the partnership between DSWD and World Vision in the implementation of Project ACE in the target areas of NCR and the Visayas Region for a period of three years. The Project will also capture Strategic Helpdesks for Information, Education, Livelihood and other Developmental Interventions (SHIELD), which was developed by DSWD, as an intervention or program strategy.

The MOA also seeks to strengthen policies, programs, and services to address the WFCL including OSAEC and violations of ACW, and the collaborative efforts between government and civil society organizations, defining the role of each organization, with the end goal of eradicating child labor.

DSWD Secretary Rolando Joselito D. Bautista, World Vision National Director Rommel V. Fuerte will be the principal signatories, to be witnessed by DSWD Undersecretary for Operations Atty. Aimee S. Torrefranca-Neri and World Vision Operations Director Ms. Xenia R. Legaspi. ###
