DSWD’s Pag-abot Program, LGUs join forces to bring hope to Metro Manila’s families, individuals in street situations

In the bustling streets of Metro Manila, social workers and local government units (LGUs) are working hand-in-hand with the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) Pag-abot Program to reach the most vulnerable families and individuals in street situations (FISS).

The DSWD’s Pag-abot Program conducts round-the-clock operations to reach out to FISS, connecting them to immediate aid, social protection services, and long-term interventions.

Through massive reach out operations, Pag-abot personnel ensure that individuals and families living on the streets are protected from danger and provided with appropriate intervention.

This intensified effort is in line with the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. to strengthen support for vulnerable sectors and address the needs of those living in the streets of the National Capital Region (NCR).

The different NCR local governments and their social workers share the same purpose and dedication.

“Matugunan kung ano yung mga pangangailangan ng mga indibidwal natin mga kapatid natin na naninirahan sa lansangan, syempre po ang ating hangarin ay maiano sila, mailagay sa isang ligtas na lugar na may kasamang serbisyo’t programa ng ating gobyerno. Kami po ay tumitingin padin na magkaroon po ng coordination, collaboration ng tuloy-tuloy sa pamamagitan ng Pag-abot DSWD at CSWDO ng Taguig,” said Emma Reanzares, Social Welfare Officer (SWO) III of Taguig’s City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO).

Emma’s words highlight the program’s commitment not only to providing immediate relief but also to creating safe pathways amid the ongoing collaboration between local offices and the DSWD.

“Ang LGU po ng Marikina ay patuloy po ang, pinapatupad ang reach out operation sa aming lungsod sa pamamagitan po ng araw araw pong pag-iikot ng mga kasamahan po namin dito sa LGU,” said Michelle Avisado, social worker at the Social Welfare and Development Office (SWDO) of Marikina City.

Across cities such as Pasay and Parañaque, local social welfare offices fully support the Pag-abot Program as they work closely with the DSWD to identify individuals in street situations and ensure they receive the help that they need.

The goal of the Pag-abot Program is simple– to offer a fresh start for children, individuals, and families living in the streets, while reinforcing a human rights-based approach in local government operations.

Through this close coordination between LGUs and the Pag-abot Program, hope reaches every corner of Metro Manila, proving that no one is too far from help.

The DSWD is the sole owner of the information collected on this site. The DSWD only has access to/collect information that you voluntarily give us via the modules of this website or other direct contact from you. All of the provisions in the Data Privacy Act will be observed specifically on the management of personally identifiable information.

Information collected may be used as a basis for client response regarding services or intervention that may be provided by the DSWD. Information will not be shared with any third party outside of the Government, other than as necessary to fulfill the requested services of a client. The DSWD, however, reserves the right to request the applicants to submit the hardcopy of documentary requirements in order to verify the authenticity of the information.

Unless otherwise provided, the DSWD or any of its authorized personnel may contact the client via email or SMS in the future for the purpose of status updates with regard to the transaction/service request, changes to this privacy policy, or other information reasonably necessary to effect the social service mandate of the DSWD.

An individual has the right to ask for a copy of any personal information held by the DSWD about him or her; as well as the right to ask for corrections should any information be inaccurate or erroneous. The DSWD takes precautions to protect information. Upon submission of sensitive information via the website, information is protected both online and offline. Wherever the Department collects sensitive information (such as passport and Birth Certificates), that information is encrypted and transmitted to the DSWD in a secure manner. This may be verified by looking for a lock icon in the address bar and looking for "https" at the beginning of the address of the web page. Only employees who need the information to perform a specific job (for example, certificate printing or customer service) are granted access to personally identifiable information. The computers/servers, where personally identifiable information is stored, are kept in a secure environment.
