“Ang 2018, ay magiging mapanghamon sa DSWD, pero ako po ay kampante na kaya ng DSWD (The year 2018 will be a challenging year for DSWD, but I know that the Department is prepared to face it).”

This was the message made by Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Officer-in-Charge (OIC) Emmanuel A. Leyco during the first flag ceremony and formal opening of the Department’s 67th anniversary celebration this January 2018.

During his speech, DSWD OIC Leyco emphasized that the best asset of the Department is the dedicated service of DSWD employees to serve the Filipino people by applying its “maagap, mapagkalinga at walang puwang sa katiwalian” mantra.

Nailatag na natin ang mga hakbang, ang systems and procedures natin, ang policies natin, para linawin, linisin, ang flow ng ating pondo. Ngayon ay mas malinis at mas klaro ito (We already laid out clearer steps and procedures for our policies, including the flow of DSWD funds),” added the OIC.

In addition, DSWD OIC Leyco said through last year’s review of the DSWD’s thrust and priorities, the social welfare agency will have a better focus and understanding on the needs that should be addressed to help assist the poor and the needy, including those in the vulnerable sectors such as the elderly, PWDs, children, and disaster victims.

“Kasama ng buong mamamayan, kasama po ng mga empleyado at opisyal ng DSWD, haharapin po natin, hindi lang nang buong sigasig, kundi walang pag-aatubili at buong husay natin na gagampanan ang ating tungkulin bilang mga kawani, opisyal at taga-suporta ng DSWD (Together with the whole Filipino people, with officials and employees of the DSWD, we shall continue to work without hesitation and with full capacity the roles and responsibilities of the DSWD),” DSWD OIC Leyco ended. ###
