Over 978k low-income SSS members receive UPLIFT assistance from DSWD

More than 978,000 low-income members of the Social Security System (SSS) has already received the Php2,000 Unified Package for Livelihoods, Industry, Food, and Transport (UPLIFT) Assistance to help the sector amid the energy emergency, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) reported on Monday (August 3).

Asst. Secretary Irene Dumlao, the DSWD spokesperson, said in an interview with PTV4’s Bagong Pilipinas Ngayon that the 978,000 households belong to Group 3 UPLIFT Assistance beneficiaries.

The provision of UPLIFT assistance is a directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to serve as a comprehensive social protection measure designed to provide immediate financial support to vulnerable families, transport workers, and low-income individuals heavily affected by rising commodity prices.

“Now for Group 3, ito yung employed, less than Php20,000 ang kanilang Monthly Salary Credit, mayron pong hulog o contribution sa SSS at least once noong 2025 or noong 2026 at may SSS disbursement account, nasa mahigit 978,000 po na mga households na ang naka-receive ng kanilapong Php2,000 UPLIFT assistance,” Asst. Secretary Dumlao said on Monday.

Group 3 covers employed low-income earners with a Monthly Salary Credit (MSC) below Php20,000 who have remitted at least one contribution to the SSS in 2025 or 2026 and possess an active SSS disbursement account.

The DSWD spokesperson said the SSS directly handles the disbursement of the financial assistance into the registered bank or disbursement accounts of the qualified beneficiaries.

Beneficiaries under Group 3 will receive Php2,000 monthly for six consecutive months covering July to December. The distribution to Group 3 beneficiaries forms part of the implementation that has already started in July subsidy to low-income households nationwide across all program categories.

“As of this morning nasa mahigit 4.4 million na mga households na po ang nakatanggap ng Php2,000 UPLIFT assistance for the month of July,” Asst. Secretary Dumlao said.

Under Group 1, more than 2.8 million households under the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) received their one-time Php2,000 subsidy through cash cards last week, alongside over 214,000 recipient households under the Walang Gutom Program (WGP).

Meanwhile, over 417,000 households under Group 2 have received their initial payouts out of the target 2.5 million poor and near-poor families identified through the 2024 Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) data of the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).

The DSWD spokesperson said payouts continue nationwide to ensure that all identified household beneficiaries will be reached and assisted to cushion the impact of the Middle East conflict.

Group 2 beneficiaries will likewise receive Php2,000 monthly for six months, with succeeding payouts transferred directly to their nominated bank accounts, cash cards, or electronic wallets registered during initial local government unit (LGU) payout schedules.

“Dahil itong UPLIFT assistance ay targeted, ibig sabihin tukoy na po natin kung sino yung makakatanggap ng tulong to cushion the impact of the ongoing energy emergency, hindi na po kinakailangan ano na mag-apply o mag tungo sa isang opisina sapagkat kayo po ay makakatanggap,” Asst.
