In pursuit of bringing social protection packages closer to the public, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) continues to participate in the Duterte Legacy: Barangayanihan Caravan Towards National Recovery.

Given the success of its simultaneous nationwide launch last September 30, a localized Duterte Legacy Caravan was conducted at the NCRPO Grandstand, Camp Bagong Diwa, in Taguig City on October 20.

DSWD Secretary Rolando Joselito Bautista was present during the caravan to oversee the provision of basic services to some 2,000 former members of Communist Terrorist Group Affected Mass Organizations (CAMOs) from Quezon City and CAMANAVA Area.

“Layunin ng pamahalaan na matugunan ang pangangailangan ng mamamayan lalo na ‘yong pinahirapan ng pandemya,” Secretary Bautista said.

Through the DSWD-Field Office National Capital Region, headed by Regional Director Vicente Gregorio Tomas, the Department provided financial assistance to some 515 intended beneficiaries under the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation. Further, DSWD distributed a total of 2,000 Family Food Packs for the former CAMOs.
