Sixteen beneficiaries of the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) were initially hired on-the-spot in the Trabaho sa Bagong Pilipinas Para sa 4Ps” job fair at Tagum City, Davao del Norte on Saturday (February 15).
Undersecretary Vilma Cabrera of the 4Ps and National Household Targeting System (NHTO) said the job fair is exclusively held for 4Ps beneficiaries to assist them in finding stable jobs to become self-sufficient.
“As of 1 pm today, 16 beneficiaries were already hired on-the-spot in the Trabaho sa Bagong Pilipinas Para sa 4Ps in Tagum City. They secured job positions such as housekeeping staff, maintenance, sales associate, utility person, customer service representative, insurance agent, store clerk, cashier, bagger, and operation management trainee,” Usec. Cabrera said.
The DSWD’s Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) will provide employment assistance to beneficiaries who were hired on the spot and those who were near-hired.
Each beneficiary will undergo evaluation for eligibility under the SLP’s Employment Facilitation Track.
The SLP is the DSWD’s capability-building program that aims to help the vulnerable, disadvantaged, and marginalized households and communities in improving their socio-economic conditions by providing them with opportunities to access and acquire livelihood assets.
“Acting as a one-stop shop, the job fair assists 4Ps members in finding jobs through direct hiring and job-seeking support, bringing them closer to financial independence,” the undersecretary said.
The job fair is an initiative of the DSWD, in partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and other government agencies, to expand opportunities for 4Ps beneficiaries to secure stable employment and enhance their quality of life.
