In continuation of providing compassionate service to the poor and vulnerable sector this Holiday season, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and its field office in the National Capital Region (NCR) distributed rice porridge and bottled water to street kids and families last night at the day care center of Barangay 721 in Malate, Manila.

The outreach activity was graced by DSWD Secretary Judy M. Taguiwalo, Assistant Secretary for the Office of the Secretary Group (OSG) Aleli B. Bawagan and Assistant Secretary for Special Concerns Jose Antonio R. Hernandez.

During the activity, Sec. Taguiwalo called on the public to conduct similar activities for street dwellers instead of patronizing mendicancy which endangers the lives of street kids.

Handa po kami sa DSWD na makipagtulungan sa inyo.(We can show care and compassion to our poor kababayans by holding simple activities such as providing hot meals like rice porridge to street dwellers. It may seem small now, but it can have a bigger impact if we work together to conduct similar activities like this. We are ready to help you), affirmed Sec. Taguiwalo. ###
