



The Inter-Agency Council on Violence Against Women and their Children (IACVAWC), chaired by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), conducted its 1st Quarter Regular Council Meeting on Thursday (February 27) at the Bayleaf Hotel in Intramuros Manila.
The meeting was presided by Assistant Secretary Elaine Fallarcuna of the DSWD International Affairs, and Attached and Supervised Agencies (IAASA), alongside Chairperson Ermelita Valdeavilla of the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW).
Among the key discussions are the adoption of the National Action Plan to End Violence Against Women and their Children (NAP-EVAW) 2025-2030 through a resolution to be issued by the council; the report on Advancing Survivor-Centered Gender Based Violence (GBV) Administrative Data System; and the presentation and approval of the IACVAWC Work Plan 2025 which includes the DSWD-led development of the VAWC Case Management and Information System.
During the meeting, council members reaffirmed their commitment to achieve a gender-fair and violence-free community where women and their children are empowered.
The IACVAWC is a body created by virtue of Republic Act (RA) 9262 or the Anti-VAWC Act of 2004 to ensure effective implementation of the law and other VAWC initiatives. # (YADP)
