The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Academy commenced on Monday (March 24) its first batch of house parents of residential child care facilities who will undergo a week-long training with Undersecretary Denise Florence Bernos-Bragas of the Regulatory Services and Institutional Development Group (RSIDG) welcoming the participants.
More than 30 house parents from residential care facilities managed by the DSWD, local government units (LGUs), and non-government organizations (NGOs) across the country are set to train from March 24-29 at the DSWD Academy in Taguig City.
The capacity-building program will particularly revolve on the latest trends and best practices in childcare, particularly for children in need of special protection (CNSPs).
DSWD Academy Director Justin Caesar Anthony Batocabe was also present on the first day of training, presiding over the discussion on child rights.
The DSWD Academy, a priority program of Secretary Rex Gatchalian, offers learning opportunities for the development of the competencies of its partner-stakeholders that are needed in the delivery of social welfare and development, as well as social protection programs and services. (LSJ)
