The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has already received over Php12.8 million worth of cash donations through the Kaagapay Donations Portal since this was launched in February.
“On behalf of the Department, we would like to extend our gratitude to the 31 donors who used the Kaagapay portal to experience a more convenient way of donating. When we give to those in need, we also mirror the compassion and grace given to us by Christ, as observed during this Lenten season,” Assistant Secretary Marie Rafael of the DSWD’s Partnerships Building and Resource Mobilization Office (PBRMO) said on Wednesday (April 16).
Asst. Secretary Rafael said the cash donations are intended for the agency’s disaster response efforts and clients of DSWD-managed centers and residential care facilities (CRCFs) as well as for social welfare and development agencies (SWDAs) or more commonly known as foundations, charitable groups, or non-government organizations (NGOs).
The Kaagapay Donations Portal is designed to create a seamless and digitalized transaction experience between the donors, DSWD, SWDAs, and local government units (LGUs).
The platform also ensures that the public will only have access to legitimate charitable organizations and foundations that are registered and licensed by the DSWD.
“This will help prevent donors from falling prey from public solicitation scams,” Asst. Secretary Rafael pointed out.
Asst. Secretary Rafael said donors are the ones who identify which organizations they will send their donations to, which will go directly to the recipients and will not pass through the DSWD.
“Donors can go through the Kaagapay Donations Portal at humanap sila ng facility o sektor kung saan sila pwedeng mag-donate. Makikita rin sa portal kung saang rehiyon at ano ba ang wish list nila,” Asst. Secretary Rafael reiterated.
The PBRM assistant secretary said both local and international donations are now being accepted in the portal.
“Pwede na rin pong mag-international donations through credit cards. Lahat po ng may JBC, mastercard, at visa card na nasa abroad, pwede na po kayong mag-donate through the Kaagapay Donations Portal,” Asst. Secretary Rafael said.
