As part of its commitment to achieving operational efficiency and providing an improved working environment, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) continues to pursue improvements in its facilities by constructing a 2-level parking building for personnel, partners, and stakeholders.
“This is a project which is not just bricks but a reflection of our collective commitment to provide an improved working environment and operational efficiency of the Department,” Undersecretary Edward Justine Orden of the DSWD’s General Administration and Support Services Group (GASSG) said in his welcome message during the groundbreaking ceremony on Monday (April 21) at the Central Office grounds in Quezon City.
The project is in line with the vision of DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian to improve and modernize the Department’s facilities in order to provide employees, the agency’s Angels in Red Vests, with a better work atmosphere, according to Undersecretary Orden.
“It aims to provide a sustainable and long-term solution to the current problem in parking spaces at the DSWD Central Office which sometimes causes operational obstacles and inconvenience the stakeholders. The absence of spaces for the vehicles also poses safety hazards,” Undersecretary Orden said.
The GASSG undersecretary also expressed the Department’s gratitude to the Office of Senator Sherwin Gatchalian for the funding support to the infrastructure project.
After a competitive bidding, the E.M Cuerpo, Incorporated was selected as the contractor for the construction of the 2-level parking building which is expected to be completed by January 2026.
Joining the groundbreaking rites for this milestone infrastructure project were Undersecretary Monina Josefina Romualdez of the Operations Group (OG), Undersecretary Adonis Sulit of the Policy and Plans Group (PPG), Undersecretary Denise Florence Bernos-Bragas of the Regulatory Services and Institutional Development Group (RSIDG), Assistant Secretary Gina Wenceslao of the GASSG, and other DSWD officials and employees.
Representatives of the E.M. Cuerpo, Incorporated, led by their Vice President, Architect Anthony Porta, also attended the groundbreaking activity. (GDVF)
