Beneficiaries of the government’s Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) have once again proven that poverty is no barrier to success as five former 4Ps monitored children topped the March 2025 Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET).
“We commend these five former 4Ps monitored children for their success. Their accomplishments are living proofs that the program continues to fulfill its mission of breaking the intergenerational cycle of poverty through education,” Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) spokesperson Asst. Secretary Irene Dumlao said on Tuesday (May 27).
Leading the 4Ps achievers is Jeanlyn Guinita Colipano from Carmen, Cebu, who secured the top 1 spot in the LET–Secondary Level. A cum laude graduate of Cebu Technological University – Danao Campus, Jeanlyn, who is the eldest child of a solo parent mother,
earned a degree in Bachelor of Secondary Education major in General Science.
“Pursuing one’s education can be greatly affected by poverty, yet it should not decide our future. I am extremely proud to be a product of 4Ps and now a licensed teacher,” the LET-Secondary Level topnotcher said.
Jeanlyn credited the program for enabling her to join extracurricular activities such as Girl Scouting, which contributed to her academic growth and leadership development.
In Region 12 ( SOCCSKSARGEN), two other 4Ps monitored children made it to the top ranks of the LET–Elementary Level. They are Venus Diane Reces Guerrero (Top 5) of Brgy. Ladtingan, Pikit, Cotabato; and Kimverlie Yusores Momo (Top 6) of Brgy. Poblacion, Alabel, Sarangani. They both graduated with degrees in Bachelor of Elementary Education major in General Education from the Mindanao State University – General Santos City.
Another topnotcher is Nischelle Sagucio, a 4Ps beneficiary from Bataraza, Palawan, who ranked 6th in the LET. Nischelle graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Palawan State University – Main Campus.
Andrew Lyn De Vera of Binmaley, Pangasinan, a 4Ps beneficiary, also made it to the Top 10 of the LET–Secondary Level.
“The achievement of these five 4Ps monitored children highlights the positive impact of the 4Ps program in transforming lives and
empowering youth through education,” Asst. Secretary Dumlao said.
Through the program, 4Ps monitored children are given education grants which range from Php350 to Php700 per month, depending on their grade level. These grants help sustain their education from elementary through high school, according to the DSWD official.
The 4Ps was launched in 2008 and institutionalized in 2019 through Republic Act No. 11310 or the 4Ps Act. It provides cash grants to more than 4 million households whose children are given subsidies to finish elementary and senior high school and supported with health and nutrition grants. (MBM)
