The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) is set to open a new satellite office in Commonwealth, Quezon City that will boost the comfort of clients availing the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) and the Ayuda sa Kapos ang Kita Program (AKAP).
Director Edwin Morata of the Protective Services Bureau (PSB) – Crisis Intervention Division (CID) said the satellite office will be located at the Paragon Place along Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City.
“Malapit pa rin sa DSWD Central Office but we will be moving to Paragon Place beside the Ever Commonwealth. It is a three-story building but the two floors, sa atin po yun,” Director Morata explained on Saturday (June 21) over DZMM’s Serbisyong DSWD for Every Juan.
The satellite office will be inaugurated on June 26. By then, all scheduled and walk-in clients of AKAP and AICS previously accommodated at the Central Office will now be directed to the new site.
This move aims to provide a more efficient and client-friendly environment, ensuring faster processing and improved service delivery, according to Director Morata.
“Ang kagandahan nito may elevator, escalator, at air conditioned na rin,” Director Morata told the DZMM program anchors.
The PSB Director said this big move was driven by the feedback of clients and DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian’s relentless push for people-centered developments in all agency programs and services.
“Kadalasan po dito sa opisina [Central Office] ang reklamo [ng mga clients] ay mainit kaya ngayon may bago na kaming office since si Secretary, very sensitive sa ganito — sa kung paano mas magiging convenient sa clients natin yung serbisyo natin,” the DSWD official said.
The initiative also heeds the call of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to make government programs and services more responsive both to the daily and long-term needs of the vulnerable, marginalized and in-crisis.
The ‘Serbisyong DSWD for Every Juan’ is anchored by veteran broadcaster Alvin Elchico and co-hosted by Jet Guevara of the DSWD’s Public Relations Service (PRS). It airs every Saturday from 11 am to 12 noon at DZMM Radyo Patrol 630. (LSJ)
