in Cotabato province for the construction of 21
day care centers under the agency’s Payapa at
Masaganang PamayaNan (PAMANA) program.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has allocated Php16.8 million to the local government unit (LGU) of Makilala town in the Province of Cotabato for the construction of 21 day care centers across 19 barangays through the agency’s Payapa at Masaganang PamayaNAn (PAMANA) project.
“This project marks a historic milestone as the first construction of 21 day care centers under the PAMANA program across the Philippines. The Municipality of Makilala is truly fortunate to be part of this transformative initiative,” DSWD Undersecretary for Inclusive-Sustainable Peace and Special Concerns Alan Tanjusay said during the ceremonial turnover of the check to the LGU of Makilala on Tuesday (October 29).
The construction of the day care center is part of the agency’s Peace and Development-Buong Bansa Mapayapa (PD-BBM) Program, aimed at uplifting under-served communities and promoting sustainable peace.
“These centers will provide a supportive environment that fosters growth, learning, and community engagement. We are hopeful these centers will be well-maintained, nurturing future generations and strengthening our community,” Undersecretary Tanjusay pointed out.
The collaboration between the DSWD and local stakeholders is designed to deliver essential services that promote the well-being and development of young children and their families in Makilala town, according to the DSWD official.
Aside from Undersecretary Tanjusay, the ceremonial turnover of the check was attended by key officials led by DSWD Field Office 12-SOCCSKSARGEN Regional Director Loreto Cabaya Jr. and 3rd District of Cotabato City Congresswoman Ma. Alana Samantha Santos.
Also in attendance were local government officials, barangay captains, and day care workers, which underscores the community’s collective commitment to this vital initiative.
In a sideline activity, the DSWD officials were invited by Pikit Municipal Mayor Sumulong Sultan to assist in the distribution of family food packs (FFPs) to individuals and families affected by Severe Tropical Storm Kristine.
The PAMANA is the national government’s program and framework for peace and development. It is implemented in areas affected by conflict and communities covered by existing peace agreements, ensuring that these benefit from improved delivery of basic services and are served by responsive, transparent and accountable LGUs.#
