DSWD, IOM to work toward stronger disaster response

Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Rex Gatchalian and International Organization for Migration (IOM) Chief of Mission for the Philippines Tristan Ashely Burnett sign on Monday (March 14) a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for enhanced disaster preparedness and response. Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Rex Gatchalian tours the executives of the Australian Government’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) and the World Food Programme (WFP) around the agency’s National Resource Operations Center (NROC) in Pasay City on Friday (March 14). DSWD receives overwhelming response to new online portal for travel clearance for minors

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has already processed 1,773 applications for travel permit for minors via the online Minors Travelling Abroad (MTA) permit system since it was launched last February 18. DSWD Employees Participate in 1st Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) 2025

Employees of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) take part in the 1st Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) 2025 held on Thursday (March 13). The employees practiced the \”duck, cover, and hold\” method and wearing hard hat as part of a simulation in the event of an earthquake. The NSED 2025 is conducted under Memorandum No. 73, s. 2025 from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) that aims to prepare both the employees and their clients on what to do when an earthquake strikes.

DSWD exec reminds public to apply online for travel permit for minors

Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Assistant Secretary Ada Colico of the DSWD’s Protective Programs told the Thursday Media Forum on March 13 that manual application for clearance or permit for Minors Travelling Abroad (MTA) has been phased out with the operationalization of the online system. With the digitalization of this important service, the issuance of the MTA permit has become centralized which helps ensure that the assessment and processing of applications follow the same standard.
