DSWD inks agreement with Marawi City LGU to help children in “torils”

Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Rex Gatchalian and Marawi City Mayor Majul Gandamra signed on Tuesday (June 3) a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) formalizing the implementation of “Project Riayah.” The new project aims to provide social protection services to orphaned, abandoned, neglected, and poor children under the care of torils in Marawi City. Torils are private educational institutions that provide Qur’an memorization, Arabic language learning, and/or instruction on Islamic values and laws within a residential setting.
