DSWD vows to sustain Marcos administration’s peace agenda

In line with the Marcos administration’s peace agenda, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) continues to synergize its program and services with other agencies to address the socioeconomic vulnerabilities of conflict-affected communities. Drop in self-rated food, poverty stats reflects modest gains of whole-of-gov’t approach – DSWD spox

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) reaffirmed on Saturday (May 10) the agency’s commitment to intensifying anti-hunger and anti-poverty efforts, attributing the recent drop in self-rated poverty and food poverty to the whole-of-government approach. The April 2025 OCTA survey showed a decline in self-rated poverty and food poverty among Filipino families. The April 10 to 16 nationwide survey showed 42 percent—or approximately 11.1 million families—now consider themselves poor, marking an eight-percentage-point drop from 50 percent, or around 13.2 million families, recorded in November 2024. Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Rex Gatchalian meets with Agence Française de Développement (AFD) Social Protection Project Team Leader Thomas Gonnet on Friday (May 9) to explore ways of strengthening partnership to address involuntary hunger in the Philippines. Over 800,000 4Ps members now tagged as self-sufficient – DSWD spox

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) continues to celebrate the success of household-beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) who have achieved self-sufficiency level. “We are very happy to announce that, as of April 30, a total of 860,471 members of 4Ps have exited the program after achieving an improved level of well-being. DSWD chief visits wake of 4-year-old NAIA 1 car crash victim

Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Rex Gatchalian on Friday (May 9) visited the wake of the 4-year-old kid who was one of the two fatalities in the car crash at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 last May 4. The DSWD chief extended his condolences to the bereaved family and assured them that the agency, through the DSWD Field Office-CALABARZON, will continue to reach out to them to provide additional social welfare interventions.
