DSWD to re-engage 1,500 MILF decommissioned combatants in Davao Region

Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Undersecretary for Inclusive-Sustainable Peace and Special Concerns (ISPSC) Alan Tanjusay conducted courtesy calls on the local government officials of Davao City, Davao Oriental, Davao de Oro, Davao del Norte, and Davao Del Sur from October 1 to 3 to get their support for the upcoming re-engagement activities for decommissioned Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) members residing in these areas. DSWD continues cash aid distribution for 1K Julian-hit Batanes families

The Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) Field Office (FO) 2 – Cagayan Valley on Wednesday (October 9) continued the distribution of cash aid to areas severely hit by the Super Typhoon  (ST) Julian in the island province of Batanes. DSWD FO-2 Regional Director Lucia Suyu-Alan personally led the distribution of Php10,000 to some 1,000 beneficiaries in the municipality of Itbayat under the agency’s Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations (AICS). Kamustahan’ visit to 1,500 MILF decommissioned combatants in Davao Region on going – DSWD exec

In line with the effort to promote peace-building initiatives in conflict-vulnerable areas, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) is conducting house-to-house visits for the ‘Kamustahan’ which aims to validate and assess the 1,500 decommissioned combatants (DCs) of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) across Davao Region from October  4-11.
