DSWD firms up initiative for adolescent moms as teenage pregnancy remains a nat’l concern

As teenage pregnancy remains a national concern, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) is strengthening its services for adolescent mothers to ensure their psycho-social well-being as they assume their parental roles at a very young age. DSWD Academy re-opens in March to provide more learning opportunities for social workers, paraprofessionals

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Academy, the agency’s premier training and learning facility, will soon re-open its doors and to provide further competencies to social workers and paraprofessionals both from the public and private sectors across the country. Director Justin Caesar Anthony Batocabe of the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) Social Welfare Institutional Development Bureau (SWIDB) discusses the updates on the operations of the DSWD Academy during the Thursday Media Forum on February 6 at the Central Office’s New Press Center in Quezon City. DSWD serves over 23K hot meals to individuals in Walang Gutom Kitchen

More than 23,000 hot meals have been served to individuals experiencing involuntary hunger at the Walang Gutom Kitchen of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). “After a little more than a month since its launching, we have served a total of 23,245 meals to more than 18,000 individuals, mostly families and children in street situations,” Assistant Secretary Irene Dumlao, who is also the DSWD’s spokesperson, said on Monday (January 27). Real Life Stories – Hope flows through DSWD’s water system project

In a small barangay in Talugtug, Nueva Ecija, around 90 households are now benefiting from a much-needed water system. This project is funded by the Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan – Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (Kalahi-CIDSS) program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Rex Gatchalian and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Philippines Resident Representative Dr. Selva Ramachandran signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) aimed at enhancing social welfare services in the Philippines through digital transformation, evidence-based decision-making, and analytics. DSWD gets Php875M QRF replenishment; vows unhampered response for typhoon-hit families

An official of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) reported on Thursday (November 14) that the agency has already received the Php875 million Quick Response Fund (QRF) replenishment from the Department of Budget and Management (DBM).
