As teenage pregnancy remains a national concern, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) is strengthening its services for adolescent mothers to ensure their psycho-social well-being as they assume their parental roles at a very young age. DSWD Academy re-opens in March to provide more learning opportunities for social workers, paraprofessionals

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Academy, the agency’s premier training and learning facility, will soon re-open its doors and to provide further competencies to social workers and paraprofessionals both from the public and private sectors across the country. DSWD serves over 23K hot meals to individuals in Walang Gutom Kitchen

More than 23,000 hot meals have been served to individuals experiencing involuntary hunger at the Walang Gutom Kitchen of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). “After a little more than a month since its launching, we have served a total of 23,245 meals to more than 18,000 individuals, mostly families and children in street situations,” Assistant Secretary Irene Dumlao, who is also the DSWD’s spokesperson, said on Monday (January 27).
