DSWD completes over 480 LAWA and BINHI projects in Eastern Visayas

The Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) Field Office-8 ( Eastern Visayas) has constructed 274 water harvesting facilities and 210 community gardens around the region under the Project LAWA (Local Adaptation to Water Access) and BINHI (Breaking Insufficiency through Nutritious Harvest for the Impoverished), an agency official reported on Wednesday (August 28). “Based on the recent report we received, the DSWD’s Eastern Visayas  Field Office has already constructed 11 fish ponds in Northern Samar, 11 in Eastern Samar, and 252 in Southern Leyte under the Project LAWA and BINHI,” Asst. DSWD wants inter-agency committee to expedite benefits to solo parents

Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Rex Gatchalian has vowed to continue coordinating with the members of the inter-agency committee involved in the provision of benefits to solo parents as mandated by Republic Act (RA) 11861 or the Expanded Solo Parents’ Welfare Act and its Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR). 71 barangays in Caraga Region benefit from DSWD’s Projects LAWA and BINHI

A total of 71 barangays in 25 municipalities in the Caraga Region have benefited from the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) Projects LAWA (Local Adaptation to Water Access) and BINHI (Breaking Insufficiency through Nutritious Harvest for the Impoverished), an agency official said on Tuesday (August 27). “Through our Field Office Caraga, our partner-beneficiaries have constructed 81 water impounding facilities under Project LAWA and 109 food security initiatives under BINHI in the identified municipalities in the region,” said DSWD Asst. DSWD continues to push for agency employees’ job security

Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Rex Gatchalian has assured the members of the House Committee on Appropriations that the agency is intensifying efforts to provide job security to employees, particularly those who are under contracts of service (COS) and job orders (JOs).
