Amid the back-to-back weather disturbances that left fisherfolk communities struggling to get by, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) steps in to provide family food packs (FFPs) to 1,200 fisherfolk from the town of Orani in Bataan province on Friday (July 25).

DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian oversaw the distribution, assuring recipients that the agency is committed to ensuring that no family impacted by successive calamities will go hungry, in line with the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.

Joining the DSWD chief in the relief distribution at the Orani Fish Landing with Trading Facility were Undersecretary Diana Rose Cajipe and Asst. Secretary Irene Dumlao of the Disaster Response Management Group (DRMG) and DSWD Central Luzon Regional Director Venus Rebuldela.

Bataan Governor Jose Enrique “Joet” Garcia and Orani Congressman Antonino “Tony” Roman III extended their heartfelt thanks for DSWD’s timely aid to their constituents.

Fisherfolk in Orion, Bataan also received food packs from the DSWD. (LSJ)
