



Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Rex Gatchalian meets with United Kingdom (UK) Secretary David Lammy of the UK\’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs on Saturday (March 8) at the British Embassy Manila in Taguig City.
The two officials discussed the importance of sustainable reforms on child care system and creating a more nurturing environment for children through deinstitutionalization from care facilities and institutions.
Joining the DSWD chief in the meeting were Assistant Secretary Elaine Fallacurna of the DSWD\’s International Affairs and Attached Supervised Agencies (IASAs); and National Authority for Child Care (NACC) Assistant Secretary Rowena Macalintal.
The UK Secretary, on the other hand, was accompanied by Special Advisor to UK Foreign Secretary William Heilpern; British Ambassador to the Philippines Laure Beaufils; Attache Adam Tobin; and Political Counsellor Andrew Bowes.
Generations Home Executive Director Chrina Cuna-Henson; and Helping Hands Healing Hearts Ministries Philippines Executive Director Claire Henderson were also invited to join the discussion. (LSJ)
