The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has distributed more than 1.1 million boxes of family food packs (FFPs) as of 4:00 a.m. on Wednesday (July 30) as part of the ongoing relief efforts for families affected by Tropical Cyclones Crising, Dante, Emong, and the enhanced southwest monsoon or habagat.
“The DSWD has been working round-the-clock with local government units (LGUs), as instructed by Secretary Rex Gatchalian, to ensure that affected families receive food assistance without delay,” Asst. Secretary Irene Dumlao of the Disaster Response Management Group (DRMG) said.
Asst. Secretary Dumlao, who is also DSWD spokesperson, said the boxes of FFPs were delivered to communities in 18 regions, including the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).
The DSWD also continues to provide other forms of relief assistance, including hygiene and sleeping kits as well as financial aid through its Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program.
Based on the latest report of the Disaster Response Operations Management, Information, and Communication (DROMIC), more than Php771 million worth of humanitarian aid has been provided to over 2 million affected families.
“Tuloy-tuloy pa rin hanggang ngayon ang pagdi-dispatch natin ng FFPs sa mga lokal na pamahalaan na nag request ng augmentation support. Ang aming mga personnel sa lahat ng aming Field Offices ay nasa ground para mag-assist sa mga LGUs sa distribution ng FFPs,” Asst. Secretary Dumlao said.
Psychosocial activities are also being conducted by DSWD social workers to displaced children, women, and other vulnerable sectors in the evacuation centers. (YADP)
