DSWD forges partnership with MVP Group to strengthen delivery of social protection services

April 11, 2025

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the MVP Group Tulong Kapatid to improve the provision of social protection programs and development services to poor, marginalized, and vulnerable Filipinos.

In his message, DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian said the partnership showcases the whole-of-society approach in achieving social development.

“It is our belief that social progress and development can be achieved when all sectors collaborate and work together for the united purpose of extending help to those who need it most, as we steer them towards a better life. Thus, on behalf of the Department, I am privileged to forge this formal partnership with the MVP Group Tulong Kapatid,” the DSWD chief said during the ceremonial signing on Thursday (April 10) at the agency’s New Press Center in Quezon City.

The MOU highlights the strategic partnership between the DSWD and the MVP Group to strengthen the DSWD’s programs which include the Walang Gutom Program (WGP); the Tara, Basa! Tutoring Program; Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP); the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps); and, the
Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan – Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS).

MVP Group Chairman Manuel V. Pangilinan expressed his confidence that the newly-forged partnership will be able to help marginalized and disadvantaged sectors.

“We are here because we share the common conviction with the DSWD that the strength of the nation lies in how it cares for the weak and most vulnerable, and that real service means going beyond our official mandates as government and as business,” Chairman Pangilinan said.

The DSWD will also tap the expertise and resources of selected foundations and organizations of the MVP Group to support the agency’s protective programs and disaster response operations in terms of relief assistance, communication, livelihood, education, electrification, health, and access to clean water.

The partnership between the DSWD and the MVP Group Tulong Kapatid will run for three years. It is rooted in a shared vision of fostering social development, reducing inequalities, and empowering individuals and communities to live a better quality of life. (AKDL)
