In its continuing efforts to sustain the unified implementation of the Ayuda sa Kapos ang Kita Program (AKAP), the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) is conducting a nationwide reorientation for all concerned personnel in DSWD Field Offices (FOs).
The “Regional Rebriefing on the AKAP Guidelines and Orientation on the National ID Authentication”, led by the Crisis Intervention Division (CID) of the Protective Services Bureau (PSB), commenced on May 19 and will run until June 13 via an online meeting platform.
According to PSB Director Edwin Morata, the activity focuses on reorienting the social workers and key field personnel on the updated program components, including the use of standardized AKAP forms and procedures for validating client eligibility.
“This reorientation serves as a proactive measure to ensure that the delivery of AKAP assistance remains transparent, efficient, and consistent across all regions,” Director Morata said.
The activity also aims to familiarize program personnel with the ongoing initiative to mainstream the use of the Philippine National ID in authenticating the AKAP client’s identity.
All concerned officials and personnel from the DSWD Central Office and 17 Field Offices are expected to participate in the sessions as well as in the discussions to ensure uniformity in the AKAP’s implementation nationwide.
“The Department remains committed to providing responsive and compassionate social protection services. Through initiatives like this rebriefing, the DSWD upholds its mandate to deliver quality, timely, and appropriate assistance to individuals and families in need of our support at the national and regional levels,” Director Morata pointed out.
The AKAP is a social welfare assistance of the DSWD that provides financial aid to individuals earning below the minimum wage, affected by inflation, and economic hardship. The program offers medical, funeral, food, and cash assistance based on the assessment of social workers. (LSJ)
