In its continuing effort to strengthen the social protection system in the country, the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) National Household Targeting Office (NHTO), conducted a test run of the i-Registro, a dynamic social registry (DSR) for the agency’s potential beneficiaries.
“The i-Registro will streamline the delivery of social protection services, standardize targeting systems, and facilitate information exchanges and interoperability with other social protection program databases,” the DSWD’s NHTO Director Jimmy Francis Schuck II said on Wednesday (August 14).
The DSR was piloted in the municipalities of Pateros in Metro Manila, Cordova in Cebu, and Floridablanca in Pampanga from July 1-31.
For the first phase, the system focused on self-service registration and information authentication for pregnant and lactating mothers (PLMs) in the identified pilot sites.
During the initial run, web portals were deployed in the select pilot sites for the registration of the PLMs, according to Director Schuck.
“Some 2,786 PLMs registered through on-site, house-to-house, or direct self-access of the web portal using their own digital devices,” the NHTO director said.
Director Schuck emphasized that i-Registro enables the agency to capture life cycle shocks, vulnerabilities, and other critical and timely information of beneficiaries ensuring that safeguards are put in place to protect people in need from further socio-economic crises.
“The i-Registro also ensures ease of access by everyone, especially the disadvantaged Filipinos, to a simplified, integrated, and more efficient delivery of social services,” Director Schuck said.
The registry features a robust information system which aims to enhance the exchange of updated demographic and migration data, crucial for targeting and supporting vulnerable households, according to the NHTO director.
The pilot implementation of the i-Registro is aligned with the national government’s efforts on digital transformation and modernization of government processes to enhance efficiency and expedite the delivery of adaptive and shock-responsive social welfare programs and services. #
