In a show of support for refugees, personnel of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) wear blue on Monday (June 16) in observance of the National Refugee Day.
Wearing blue is part of a national movement to stand with refugees around the world and spark conversations about their rights, resilience, and hopes for a better life.
During the agency’s Monday flag raising ceremony, Undersecretary Monina Josefina Romualdez of the Operations Group (OPG) said this year’s theme, “Strengthening Spaces of Resilience and Hope,” calls upon everyone to actively cultivate hope and generously partake in extending a hand to those resiliently seeking care.
Proclamation No. 265 declares June 20 of every year as the “National Refugee Day” to honor the courage and resilience, and protect the rights of refugees all over the world. (YADP)
