Twenty families and individuals in street situation (FISS) are now safe and sound after the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), through its Pag-abot Program, conducted a massive reach out operation in Las Piñas City last June 10 (Monday).

“Marami sa kanila ay napilitang manirahan sa lansangan dahil sa iba’t ibang dahilan. Sa Pag-abot, tinutulungan natin silang makabalik sa mas ligtas at maayos na pamumuhay,” Asst. Secretary Irene Dumlao, who is also the DSWD spokesperson, said on Thursday (June 12).

Among those reached out during the Pag-abot operation were two families, five individuals, and two minors who were living along the streets of Las Piñas City.

Following the operation, all rescued FISS were transported to the Pag-abot Processing Center where they received interventions such as meals, clean clothing, hygiene kits, and medical aid.

Each beneficiary was also issued a Pag-abot ID, which serves as their official identification that will help them access government services more easily.

“We want to help people who are in difficult situations. Through Pag-abot, we provide basic services and link them to programs that can support their long-term needs,” the DSWD spokesperson said.

The Pag-abot beneficiaries will undergo a more comprehensive assessment, to be conducted by DSWD social workers. This will determine their unique needs and help tailor-fit other interventions such as livelihood assistance and reintegration to communities.

The DSWD also reiterated its call to the public to coordinate and report cases of FISS.

“If you see or encounter FISS, please contact the Pag-abot Program through the official Facebook Page: facebook.com/dswdpagabot and email at pagabotprogram@dswd.gov.ph. You may also call (02) 8-931-9141 from Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM,” Asst. Secretary Dumlao said. (YADP)
