The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) on Saturday (July 26) receives 2,000 sacks of rice and 1,000 boxes of noodles from the Provincial Government of Sulu.
The donated goods were transported via C-130 aircraft of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) from Sulu Airport to Villamor Airbase in Pasay City.
In a Facebook post, DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian thanked Sulu Governor Abdusakur Tan II and the provincial government for their show of solidarity to help assist the families affected by the effects of the southwest monsoon and recent tropical cyclones.
“Thank you to Gov. Sakur Tan and the Province of Sulu for sending 2,000 sacks of rice and 1,000 boxes of noodles for storm-hit communities in Luzon. With help from the AFP, the goods from Jolo arrived today. DSWD is working promptly with our Angels in Red Vests, LGUs, and volunteers to ensure aid reaches those who need it most,” the DSWD chief said. (AKDL)
