



Discussions in the Thursday (June 19) Media Forum of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) revolved on updates on the agency’s social protection and livelihood program for persons with disabilities.
Director Miramel Laxa of the agency’s Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) shared updates on the upcoming turnover of disability-friendly e-buses to persons with disabilities in SLP associations through the Persons with Disabilities – Electric Transportation Service (PWD-ETS) Project.
Director Edwin Morata of the Protective Services Bureau-Crisis Intervention Unit (PSB-CIU) updated reporters on the implementation of the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) Program and the Ayuda sa Kapos ang Kita Program (AKAP).
The forum also provided a platform for Atty. Angelo De Alban, the lawyer of the family of the person with disability who was ganged up in a bus, who told reporters that the family will definitely file charges against the perpetrators.
The DSWD Thursday Media Forum, which is held weekly at the New Press Center, is hosted by Special Assistant to the Secretary (SAS) for Communications Raymond Robert Burgos and Director Dianne Joie Ruiz of the Digital Media Service (DMS). It is live streamed over the DSWD Facebook page. #
