DSWD’s 4Ps eyes ‘inflation-adjusted’ cash grants

May 21, 2025

The Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) continues to engage with economic managers and legislators to study the possibility of increasing the cash grants of 4Ps beneficiaries in order to address the impacts of inflation.

“Yung sa adjustments naman ng cash grants, patuloy pa rin naman yung pag-aaral at tinitignan din natin kung magkano nga ba yung pwedeng i-angat. Kapagka po may resulta na itong pag-aaral na ito, atin pong i-aannounce yung adjustment sa cash grants,” Division Chief (DC) Marie Grace Ponce of the 4Ps Social Marketing Division (SMD) said during the May 21 episode of the DSWD’s online program, “4Ps Fastbreak.”

The SMD chief said the ongoing efforts to raise the amount of the cash grants is aligned with the instructions of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to help improve the purchasing power of 4Ps beneficiaries.

“Yung presyo ng pagbili ng notebook nung 2019, iba na yung presyo natin ngayon. So, importante talaga na nakakasabay rin yung value nung nakukuha ng mga beneficiaries natin nang sa gayon natutugunan pa rin nila yung kanilang pangangailangan kasi ito naman yung gusto natin na matugunan yung basic na pangangailangan ng pamilya sa pamamagitan ng pagbibigay natin ng cash grants,” DC Ponce told the 4Ps Fastbreak.

Earlier this year, the 4Ps has already implemented the First 1000 Days (F1KD) conditional cash grant, which is part of the directive of President Marcos to provide additional financial support to household-beneficiaries with pregnant and lactating mothers nursing children aged 0-2 years old.

Launched in 2008 and institutionalized by Republic Act (RA) 11310 in 2019, the 4Ps is the national poverty reduction strategy and human capital investment program that provides conditional cash transfer to poor households for a maximum period of seven years to improve their children’s health, nutrition, and education.

The ‘4Ps Fastbreak’ is hosted by Information Officer Venus Balito of the Strategic Communication Group’s Digital Media Service (DMS) and is aired every Wednesday, 11 am, using the DSWD’s Facebook platform. (AKDL)
