A former monitored child of the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) has topped the 2025 Electronics Technician Licensure Examination (ECTLE).
Jayvee Fuentebella, who hails from Bacolod City, garnered the highest score of 95 percent out of the 2,411 examinees. Jayvee shared the first spot with four other ECTLE takers.
“The DSWD family congratulates Jayvee for this outstanding accomplishment, which not only brings pride to his family and community but also serves as an inspiration to other 4Ps children across the country,” Assistant Secretary Irene Dumlao, the agency spokesperson, said on Monday (April 14).
Asst. Secretary Dumlao said Jayvee’s family is an active beneficiary of the 4Ps, the national poverty reduction strategy and human investment capital program of the Philippine government.
“Jayvee’s achievement and the improvement of the Fuentebella family’s well-being exemplify the long-term impact of investing in human capital and empowering families through education and support services,” Asst. Secretary Dumlao said.
The DSWD spokesperson said the family is set to exit from the program as they now reached self-sufficiency level.
The now-licensed technician took the Bachelor of Science in Electronics Engineering at the Technological University of Philippines – Visayas. Jayvee was a scholar under Republic Act (R.A.) 7687 or the Science and Technology Scholarship Act of 1994 being administered by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST).
R.A. 7687 provides scholarships “to finance the education of poor, talented and deserving students desiring to pursue a degree or training in areas of science and technology.” (YDAP)
