The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) commended on Sunday (May 18) four former monitored children under the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) who were among the Top 10 passers of the May 2025 Philippine Nurse Licensure Examination.
“Ang tagumpay ng ating mga dating 4Ps monitored children ay patunay na ang programa ay hindi lamang tungkol sa ayuda kundi isang matibay na tulay tungo sa tagumpay sa buhay. Sa 4Ps, tayo ay namumuhunan sa mga kabataan,” Asst. Secretary Irene Dumlao, the DSWD spokesperson, said.
Jamela Irish Casis, a former 4Ps beneficiary from Aguilar, Pangasinan, secured the 6th spot in the licensure examination.
Kyla Mae Narciza, from Santo Domingo, Nueva Ecija, ranked 7th bringing pride not only to her family but also to the 4Ps beneficiaries.
Also placing 7th is Samantha Joy Eco Cruz of Lingayen, Pangasinan.
“Like Jamela, Samantha Joy is from the Ilocos Region who benefited from the educational grants under the 4Ps, exemplifying how government support can open doors to success and break intergenerational cycle of poverty,” Asst. Secretary Dumlao said.
Completing the list is Alyna Kyla See from Dagupan City, Pangasinan, who landed in 8th place.
“Ang bawat kwento ng tagumpay ay nagsisilbing inspirasyon sa ating mga benepisyaryo, sa gobyerno, at sa ating mga kawani na patuloy na nagsusumikap upang makamit ang tunay na pagbabago,” the DSWD spokesperson said.
Aside from the four nursing exam topnotchers, the 4Ps has also produced three other top scorers of various licensure examinations this first semester of the year.
The former monitored children-turned topnotchers are: Sheila Jane Doles from the University of Northern Philippines, who landed the Top 5 spot in the Licensure Examination for Midwives; Mustafa Rescober Ali from Rizal Technological University (RTU) who took the Top 2 spot in the Licensure Examination for Electrical Engineering; and Jayvee Fuentebella from Technological University of Philippines – Visayas who clinched the top spot in the Electronics Technician Licensure Examination (ECTLE).
According to the DSWD spokesperson, the agency will continue to enhance and innovate its programs and services to break the cycle of poverty.
“Makakaasa ang sambayanang Pilipino na ang DSWD ay patuloy na magsusulong ng mga programang tunay na makapag-aangat sa antas ng pamumuhay ng ating mga kababayan,” Asst. Secretary Dumlao said.
The 4Ps, which was launched in 2008 and institutionalized in 2019 through Republic Act No. 11310 or the 4Ps Act, provides cash grants to more than 4 million households whose children are given subsidies to finish elementary and senior high school and supported with health and nutrition grants.
